BLANKET

Oil on canvas, 90 x 135cm, 2024

When the sun sets and the cold LED lights covers the city blocks.

When city buildings are wrapped in a gentle sense of coziness.

When, under the shadow of nuclear war threat, everything seems so fragile and priceless.

When comfort is no longer a luxury but a salvation, like a small cave where you can hide from prying eyes, from the anxiety we carry within ourselves every day.

When the warmth of home feels like a long-awaited letter from a long-lost loved one.

When thoughts cease to be enemies, and fears no longer demand an answer.

When it seems that this comfort is eternal.

And suddenly – blink, blink.

When death mercilessly erases boundaries, words, and thoughts.

When it drowns all our victories and defeats in its cold depths, leaving only the faint echo of footsteps that have dissolved into eternity.

When there is no ritual, no song, no prayer that can awaken this eternal sleep.

When you are laid under the earth’s blanket.

When death takes you away, but the earth keeps you.

When it becomes the final home, where one day, we will meet.

Then,

it is frightening to become part of this unchanging cycle,

where time stops,

and silence becomes your eternal companion.
